Uptown Eatery has a history as a neighborhood staple, where breakfast, brunch and lunch is offered 6 days a week in the Rosemary District of Sarasota, Florida. Building on an already rich history, Uptown Eatery has a very strong menu of a American Eatery – home-style cooking, rich with flavor.

GENE STILL

Gene has gained his past 20 years’ experience in cooking along with Italian, Latin, Mexican, American, Contemporary, and Asian. He will tackle any task put in front of him. Gene is an advocate for using the freshest ingredients possible to ensure the highest food quality. He is dedicated to “made from scratch” cooking, food quality and above all cleanliness.

Gene is a native of Missouri. He was raised at the Lake of the Ozarks . Fascinated by cooking as a child, it was only fitting he became a chef. Much of his inspiration as a child can be attributed to his mother and his Aunt Virginia who both were always in the kitchen cooking.

Gene began working in the restaurant and hospitality industry at 14. Working his way through the industry, he worked at award-winning Gregory’s on the Lake, and later at The Old Trail House, two of the best restaurants in the area. In 1998, he expanded his surroundings and embarked on a new horizon The Woodland’s, Texas

Initially, working as a bartender at the prestigious Woodland’s Resort and Conference Center he honed his knowledge of wine and spirits. Shortly after he began working again in the kitchen, he began catering events at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, where national music acts preform. Some of these events included: Aerosmith (corporate), Jimmy Buffet and Dave Matthews to name a few.

In 2003 Gene moved to Sarasota, Florida where he has worked as a chef, He resides with his son Nicholas.

In his off time he can be found kayaking in the waters of Sarasota Bay with his son and enjoying time with his friends and members of his church.

Carol has been in the restaurant industry her entire life, Originally from Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri where she spent many years, after a many of long cold winters she decided to move to Florida in 2003. She specializes in top of the line foods and catering.

She worked for Darden’s Corp here in Florida for a while until deciding to go into partnership with her son and open Uptown Eatery & Catering.

She specializes in top of the line foods and catering.

Anything she can do for you it is her personal promise that you leave happy and satisfied, she has dedicated her life to customer service.
